CHINESE EXCHANGE APRIL 2017The West Bridgewater Middle Senior High School was fortunate enough earlier this year to once again host some students from China. The Chinese exchange students went over to the Spring Street School and taught some of the children about their lives and vocabulary that are apart of their everyday lives. They had a great time meeting and the students, along with their buddies, took a day trip into Boston to the Museum of Science. After the museum the Chinese students took a tour of Boston College. Many of the students are actually interested in coming to America for their studies after high school. We hosted a day where we brought in typical American foods and desserts for them to try, while prior to that, they held a cooking demonstration of a tomato and egg dish with Portuguese rolls. Both groups learned a lot from their overseas friends and the Department hopes to plan a trip to China in the next year.

Our Wishes for World Peace - Kidwish 2016
In December 2015 we were paired with a high school in Tajikistan. We created personalized greeting cards for each of the students there. These cards were mailed to them over the Christmas break. In January we will receive their cards and then skype with them to meet "face to face" and talk about how we can work to create a more peaceful world, starting right in our own back yards!

Our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding.
